Dell E7440 Bios Update

Dell E7440 Bios Update Rating: 3,9/5 1835 reviews
  1. Dell Latitude E7440 Bios Update

I am trying to run an upgrade script through SCCM for Dell Bios Firmware. I need it to run silently without an immediate reboot.

When I push the script, the upgrade runs and logs as successful with an exit code of 2 - Reboot Required. However, when a user manually reboots after the process either immediately afterwards or at End of Business, the bios flash does not run during the post sequence and no upgrade is performed. This is the script: E7470-06.exe /s /FORCEIT /l=c: logs E7470-06.log Any help as to why it doesn't complete the upgrade after reboot would be greatly appreciated.

Our company has a few (maybe five) of E7440's. There was a freezing/crashing problem with an earlier BIOS version that Dell reported to be fixed in the BIOS version A11 that was pretty soon canceled (). Actually, now that I looked at the A12 BIOS release notes there's no mention about fixing any freezing issues although I remember that it was mentioned in the release notes of the canceled A11 BIOS ().

We have updated the BIOS versions to A12, but the computers still freeze occasionally, either when waking up from sleep or when connecting a HDMI cable. Also some device drivers were updated at some point, but maybe they're not all in the newest version right now.

The BIOS controls the startup operation on your Dell PC; if you set a password to lock the BIOS, your laptop won't initialize the bootstrap process unless you enter the appropriate password. Bijoy 52 download. The feature is ideal for keeping out unauthorized users -- up until you forget your credentials.

That didn't help last time with this problem so I'm not too eager to try again updating all the numerous device drivers. Is anyone else still having these problems with Dell E7440 model or has the BIOS update really worked for somene? Any ideas, should I try to e.g. Disable turning some device's power saving option off from the device manager? Our E7440's are in heavy use by pretty busy users so there is limited time to study and test stuff with these computes and a working solution to stop the problem would be great.

The release notes for A13 and A14 BIOSes don't say anything about fixing this kind of issues so I'm not so sure they'll help but I'll of course install A14 too when updating drivers if that's what I'm going to try next. Of course if someone has experience of this particular model, he/she could know if there's something else that is causing this problem.

In our company we are trying to keep the additional software as minimal as possible, as they add background processes and might cause additional problems, so I don't think we are having the Command Update Utility installed on our E7440's. Normal users don't have any kind of install rights anyway so if the utility runs also on the normal user's account it would probably just bother them by reporting about new updates or some other way.

I would also say either you are either going to deploy using volume license ISO or Dell OEM DVD. In theory it should not make a difference to the end result.

Check disk alignment? In windows 7 > run msinfo32 click on: components > storage > disks Look for your SSD and check the partition starting offset. It needs to be divisible by 4096 (ie return a whole number when you divide by this) otherwise the alignment is not correct.

With a complete wipe and reinstall if you are still having the freezing problem then it could be a hardware issue. I don't have any 7 series Latitudes, but I do have a handful of 5 and 6 series and I have had no issues with any of them. I too would try to locate the Dell OS disc that came with the laptop, you may have to contact Dell to get one. I have had some issues that were odd, similar to what you are describing and after a couple of days of trying this driver or that update I relented and reloaded the OS from a Dell disc and the issues went away.
